Bank Teller : Good afternoon. May I help you?

1. 혀의 위치가 유사한 자음의 생략

혀의 위치가 유사한 자음의 생략은 발음할 때 혀 끝의 위치가 같거나 유사한 자음으로서 자음이 연이어 질 때, 앞 자음이 뒷자음에 동화되어 앞자음의 발음이 생략되거나 약음으로 발음되는 현상을 말합니다.
예문은 통해 긴 발음과 짧은 발음을 들어 보세요.

2. /d/음의 생략

자음사이에 오는 /d/음이 탈락하는 경우가 있는 데 이것이 /d/음의 생략입니다. 다음 발음을 비교해 보세요.

long : grandson[그랜드썬] -> short : grandson[그랜 썬]
long : handsome[핸드 썸] -> short : handsome[핸 썸]

이런 경우는 짧은 발음 즉, d음가가 생략된 발음이 관용화되어 올바른 발음으로 여겨집니다. 따라서 grandson이나 handsome에서 /d/를 발음하는 것은 옳지 못한 발음입니다.
다음은 문장속에서의 생략입니다. 빠르게 발음하는 경우 보통 /d/음이 생략되어서 발음됩니다.
