My birth place Seoul city since 1989
I was destined to be standing between the lines
of the east and the west
culturally compressed
identities moralities merge and I`m complexed
into a figure I call an international idiot
but my papa always said Jolly the sky is the limit
however in reality
niether the twinkie or the f.o.b.
was the title of my I.D.

1989년 난 태어나 서울시에
태초부터 동서양 그 사이에 서있는 채
배경 정체성 가치관 모두 뒤섞여버려
국제적 바보로 난 전락해버려
하지만 아빠는 항상 말씀하셨지 가능성이 무한한거란다
하지만 현실에서 난 이것도 저것도 아닌 방랑자

skin color the ruler
tradition the mission
prejudice the justice
and one`s nationality equals as a category
dividing authenticity
there ain`t such thing no more here called uniformity

피부색은 또다른 판단의 기준
복종해야만하는 전통들
선입견은 곧 정의
국적을 한 종류로 취급해
하나됨따위는 버려진지 오래지

I was imported the foreigner
they would deport me call me a stranger
no train for me to board everyone`s a defender
but I just won`t care don`t care cuz today is

수입품인 나는 ‘외국인’
나를 손가락질해 나는 낯선인
속할 수 있는 집단도 없는 나지만
오늘도 상관안해 그저 난

saying bless you when achoo
living the American dream
Barney and Elmo as my friend instead of 뽀뽀뽀
chocolate chip cookies dipped in milk instead of 아폴로
and I grew with the gift of being bilingual
helping me mingle globally with people
red, black, yellow, and white
all are the same in my sight

1992년부터 내 고향이 된 미국 NC주
새로움을 받아들이면서 자라
하루하루 아메리칸 드림속에서 살아가
뽀뽀뽀 대신 바니와 엘모가 내 친구지
아폴로 대신 초코칩쿠키와 우유가 내 군것질거리
그렇게 두 언어를 난 배워가
국제적 사회속에서 여러 사람들을 만나봐
황인 백인 흑인 모두 내 눈엔 똑같은 한 ‘사람’

skin color doesn’t matter
tradition is an option
prejudice injustice
proud of my nationality
so I anticonformity love individuality
finally do I see there cannot be another me

피부색 상관없어
전통은 자유고
선입견은 불의
내 국적은 내 자랑거리
드디어 보여 나의 유일무이한 장점이
